Spiritual Direction

She/HER. Inclusive Spiritual direction
for people of all faiths, races, genders,
and sexual orientations.

Welcome and thank you for visiting my website. If you’re reading this, perhaps you or a loved one is in need of spiritual guidance and support. But what does that mean? As a spiritual guide, I aim to simply be a companion on your life’s journey. I use your own spiritual beliefs to guide you along the path to greater spiritual freedom in whatever form is most meaningful to your life.

How I Can Help You

These are just a few of the areas where I offer my guidance.

I’m the flashlight, but you already have the map.

Growing spirituality comes from recognizing your own path toward Peace, Presence, Love. I will help you see your own path, not mine. I have some gifts. First, I listen carefully. I hear what is said and not said. Everything I hear is confidential. Sometimes it is easier to share with a stranger who keeps secrets. Second, I have probably heard about every struggle in the last twenty years, and I doubt that you can surprise me. Religiously, I can provide the sacrament of confession and absolution. Third, I do not judge you or encroach on your vulnerability. I take you where you are because where you are is where you are supposed to be at this moment and in this place.

My purpose as a spiritual director and soul companion is to support your own path to Union with God, a path glimmering through the holy darkness.

As your call to prayer changes, I can be a companion along the way, guiding you in contemplative care towards a sense of union with God. Sometimes we need a companion along the path to tell us we’re on the right track, and I can help you there. You might finally understand that your ‘I AM’ and God’s’ I AM’ are one and the same.

I was a hospice chaplain for 11 years and a hospital chaplain for 10 years before that. I understand the complex and conflicting emotions surrounding death and strive to help the person who is dying lead a full life because you matter now and you matter until the very end.

I have observed that most deaths are not scary, rather death appears to be an invitation from God into which we surrender as the final act of faith. There are of course many forms of grief, but I believe that there can be peace, memory, sacredness, tenderness, and even joy in death, and I want to help you find that healing.

Get to Know Me

My approach to spiritual direction is born out of my diverse experiences. These experiences have shaped not only who I am as a person but also my drive for equality, acceptance, and compassionate understanding.

Above all, I believe in kindness, honesty, and humility. I am willing to work with anyone and everyone – no matter what the person may be recovering from or struggling with.

I’ve worked everywhere from hospitals to hospices. Earlier in my life I served as a midwife assisting those in the end-of-life stage and I’ve also provided support to those suffering from chronic illness.

I hold a doctorate in divinity and am an ordained priest. I have worked as a spiritual director since 2002, and have been in spiritual care for over 20 years.

I was also a Clinical Ethicist in medical centers dealing with end-of-life issues.

I also teach critical race theory, and as a Caucasian woman I believe it is important to acknowledge that like many, I have unconscious racial biases.

All in all, my background has hugely influenced my perspective on not only spiritual direction but life in general. I carry these experiences with me wherever I go, and the empathy and insight I’ve gained over the course of my life are, I believe, a large part of why people seem to cherish working with me.
